Dear Maria, Count Me In

IT SNOWED LAST NIGHT!! haha everyone's status on facebook this morning was "It's only october 10th, it's way too early for it to be snowing!" but it all melted by this afternoon... *sigh*

I'm currently trying to convince my dad to bring me to the All Time low, We the kings, and The Friday Night Boys concert at the end on Novemeber. I know it's kinda silly to go to a concert with your dad, but my mom won't let me go by myself or with just friends. So I'm gonna go with my buddy Ena, and hopefully the venue will have someplace for dad to sit... we don't want him in the general admin area with tons of screaming teenage girls. I don't much care to All Time low, I think they're too mainstream for me. However, We the Kings is amazing. I usually listen to hardcore/screamo/rock stuff, but I have a soft part in my heart for We the Kings.

Another one of my favorite powerpop bands is A Rocket To the Moon. Their new CD comes out on the 13th... and I'm super excited to buy it! Nick Santino, the lead singer, is a total babe... hahaha. Back to my rock roots, I'm gonna guy the new blessthefall cd. it's real good!

Mom and I went shopping today. A new thrift store just opened up... and I got some things.

Then i got this AMAZING cardigan. It's a men's Xl, so it's reallly big. but comfortable. I got new black Skinny jeans from Pac Sun just cuz my old ones are too big and faded.

New plaid flannel shirt. This is really thick and heavy duty. Good for winter :D

the best vintage shopping trip ever :)

I found this lovely boyfriend blazer yesterday at a thrift store for $7. It was slightly difficult trying to find a blazer that wasn't too businessy looking, but I found it! It's vintage Dana Bauchman. so excited! Shorts: DIY vintage shorts. Grey V neck: Pac Sun These new AMAZING thrift store find booties make my legs look skinny! and toned. I love them already!

Thrift store shopping!

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY! Mom and I made an awesome American flag rice crispie bar thing. It took a while, but it's aawesome. This time last year I was in Colorado with my friend and her family. Caleigh and I made this amazing American Flag cake with strawberries and blueberries for decoration. We stayed up very late that night eating cake with her step brother... Ah, good memories!

So this morning my mom and I went to the biggest thrift store ever! Ha, not really, but it is really big! We went because they had a 50% off sale! It's one of those thrifts stores that has everything you need. Clothes, Jewerly, shoes, house hold appliances, games, books, furniture, everything! It's so crowded too! There are aisles, and aisles of clothes and stuff. It's really unbelievable.

I like the store because they have lots of good stuff. For some reason they have TONS of vintage designer purses, like Coach, Dooney & Bourke, Louis Vuitton, and more! They have tons of real vintage Coach purses like the black leather cross body bags with gold buckles and accents. My mom has one, but she got hers at a garage sale for $10. Today I found an adorable coral bag from Coach. I think it was only $19.99, but would be like $10 on sale today. I didn't get it, but it sure was really cute. I found a whole bunch of the old, old, old Dooney & Bourkes from a long time ago. I was even gonna buy one, but didn't want to owe my mom one. Shoot, I should have gotten a picture of it, but I got a picture of two different ones. Those too were really cheep, but I had no desire to buy them. Sometimes if you want to buy something, you have to think to yourself if you're really going to use it a lot. That's what happened with the other Dooney & Bourke, I was in line to check out but put it back because I didn't think I was going to use it that often. It was only $10, and my mom wanted to buy it. However, she didn't because she doesn't have a job... *sigh* What else did I find that I didn't buy?? hmmm I found this really UGLY Marc by Marc Jacobs dress. It was yellow and white stripped with this bow in the front. In the back it was criss crossed, and had a really weird ruffley bottom. I don't know what Mr. Jacobs was thinking when he made this dress. There's a reason why it ended up in a thrift store and is still there months later. However, I once found this charming turquoise cardigan from Marc by Marc Jacobs there. I didn't buy it because turquoise just ain't my color. They also have lots of super cheap jewerly. I liked the elephant one... but thought it might be creepy if I wore an elephant pendant on my neck. People may think I am an elephant killer... or worshiper. Neither are true, so I didn't buy it.

And they had my old school uniform. Well, not MY uniform, but it's the jumper we had to wear. *BLAH* it brings back bad memories... and makes me wanna barf.

Midwestern hick???

Hello!!!! So I know this outfit may not be the most summery thing out there, but I like it. I am wearing a vintage Ralph Lauren plaid shirt that I bought at St. Vincent De Paul, a charity thrift store for $1.99. When I bought the shirt, it was weirdly perportioned. The waist was too big and the shirt too short. I fixed the waist problem, I just sewed a new but smaller hem on both side. The grey tank is from H&M for $12.95, and so are the zipper leggings! Leggings are going to be HUGE for fall, and I absolutely LOVE zippers. They just add the whole grunge rock feel to it. The nerd glasses are some broken sunglasses from Wet Seal that I got the lenses out of. I needed some nerd glasses for a movie at school, and didn't have any. Found the glasses and VOILA! I had myself a nice pair of attractive nerd glasses. The white ballet flats with bows are from an Animal Ark charity store that I got really cheap! It feels good to shop at stores where you know your money is going toward a good cause. Once. I found these adorable mustard yellow Gucci sandals there. I wanted them so bad, but at that time I didn't have any money and my mom didn't want to pay $20 on sandals! "But mom! They're Gucci!", I complained. She didnt care, and used the "your dad will kill me" card. *sigh*

So yes, I do realize that this outfit may have a... midwestern Hick feel to it, but I think it's a nice, easy, comfortable thing to wear to school or anywhere really... Plaid has become really popular now, and many stores have been putting them out on their racks. However, I DO NOT want to pay $25+ on something I can buy at a thrift store for $5 or less. Plus, it's like recycling your clothes. How green! Also, you get the real deal at thrift stores, not some new fake plaid shirt.

Well kids, I must be going now. Don't want to bore you with anymore thrift store stories....

Gasp for the truth

I was very apprehensive about buying this sweater because it is very..preppy. Preppy just isn't the way I tend to flow. However, I wore it to school, and people loved it. It's from Target: $7?. the black skinny jeans are from Pac Sun: 2 for $55. The belt is vintage and same with the scarf. The off white shirt I got from Urban. The black flats I got from a thrif store for $2.50! I love bargain shopping, and I think it's definately the way to go, especially in this economy. We should start finding new ways to buy clothes that won't break the budget. Plus, some of the most unique and fashion forward stuff comes from thrift stores.
